Non-Classical Solo Keyboard Piano Competition

Venue: New England Shirdi Sai Parivaar (NESSP):  Bayaja Hall on the first floor, 99 Shirdi Way, Groton, MA 01450

General Guidance 

• Please report on time at the venue (No exceptions for delay)

• Your item number will be given to you when you check in at the venue on the day of the performance 

• Participants going over the time limit in the rules will incur a 1 point penalty for every 10 to 30 secs over time limit.

• Judges’ Decision and Results are FINAL

• Participants must be within the age range as of January 1, 2025 for all competitions  

• Please come fully dressed and be prepared to go on stage for the time slots given 

Common Rules

• Keyboard to be tuned and to be bought by each student

• No seeing the notes and playing

• Performed from Memory Repeats are discouraged 

• Song Selection can be any Semi-Classical or Non-Classical Songs 

• Language : Tamil

• Can be a Single Song or 2 - 3 Songs together

• Age Group, Age category, Duration of Performance

  1.  8 to 10 years; Sub- Juniors; 5 minutes

  2. 11 to 13 years; Juniors: 6 minutes 

  3.  14 to 17 years; Senior : 6 minutes 

Score Sheet

• Technical Accuracy/Command of the Instrument (accuracy, rhythm, fingering, dynamics, range and articulation (20 marks)

• Musical Interpretation (Tempo, expression style, phrasing) (20 marks) 

• Complexity of the Songs (20 marks) 

• Stage Presence ( Posture, eye contact and body movement) ( 20 marks)

• Potential Competition rule ( Time limit and Memorization) ( 20 marks)
