Non-Classical Indian Singing Solo Competition

Venue: New England Shirdi Sai Parivaar (NESSP):  Bayaja Hall on the first floor, 99 Shirdi Way, Groton, MA 01450

General Guidance

• Please report on time at the venue (No exceptions for delay)

• Your item number will be given to you when you check in at the venue on the day of the performance 

• Participants going over the time limit in the rules will incur a 1 point penalty for every 10 to 30 secs over time limit.

• Judges’ Decision and Results are FINAL

• Participants must be within the age range as of January 1, 2025 for all competitions  

• Please come fully dressed in appropriate festive Indian Stage Attire and be prepared to go on stage for the time slots given    

Common Rules

• Good quality karaoke track

• Language Tamil song with no English words

• No seeing lyrics and singing

• Age Group, Age category, Duration of Performance

1.  8 to 10 years: Sub-Juniors; 5 to 7 minutes

2. 11 to 13 years; Juniors;  5 to 7 minutes 

3. 14 to 17 years; Senior : 5 to 7 minutes 

4. 18 years and above : Adults : 5 to 7 minutes

• Singing in correct Sruthi (10 marks)

• Correct Talam singing to beats of track (10 marks)

• Bhavam and how they are emoting (10 marks)

• Stage Presence and audience engagement (10 marks)

• Complexity of Song (10 marks)

• ⁠Nuances  and sangadhis (10 marks)

• ⁠Any improvisation ( extra marks)
